What a toss! A man with no arms successfully threw the first pitch at the Kansas City Royals game on Thursday, July 31.
Tom Willis, who was born without the limbs, is a motivational speaker who’s tossed the first pitch at 22 ballparks across the U.S. as part of his Pitch for Awareness campaign. He also spearheads a company called Tomsfeet Productions.
Willis uses his feet to accomplish everyday tasks like driving, writing, typing, and even throwing a ball. His latest goal is to pitch in every single MLB stadium—a total of 30 ballparks across the country.
At the Royals game Thursday, Willis walked to the mound barefoot. Clutching the baseball with his right toes, he wound up like any pro baseball player would, and hurled the ball with precision.

In 2008, Willis threw his first pitch at a Washington Nationals-San Diego Padres game in Petco Park in California. “After my pitch for the Padres, I met my friends / fan club in the seats,” he wrote on his website. “I told them, ‘That was so much fun – maybe I should throw a pitch at all 30 MLB stadiums. Wouldn’t that be great!?!'”
