Trevor Reed, an American citizen, has been detained and jailed in Russia for more than two years now. He had a days-long hunger strike which ended as he has "lost a lot of weight" and is "very sick now."

As per the statement, he stopped eating food on November 3 at 6 p.m. Officially, he refused food on the morning of November 4 from prison. 

Reed resumed eating food the morning of November 9. In between the time, he only drank water. 

Two years back, he was sentenced to prison by a Moscow court.

In July 2020, Trevor Reed was sentenced nine-year in prison. He was arrested for endangering the "life and health" of Russian police officers in an altercation. Reed's case has yet to appear on the official Wikipedia website.

Trevor Reed left Texas in 2019 to visit his girlfriend in Russia. He hasn't come home. The U.S. government says he's wrongfully imprisoned.

However, Reed and his family have denied every charge against him. He was taken into custody in 2019 after a night of heavy drinking during a visit to Russia. 

According to his family, he was there to visit his longtime girlfriend Alina Tsybulnik. The police stated to state-run news agency RIA-Novosti that he was involved in an altercation with women. 

They arrived at the scene after getting complaints of a disturbance and arrested him. Reed allegedly resisted the arrest attacked the driver and hit another policeman. 

Furthermore, he also allegedly caused the car to swerve by grabbing the wheel and created a hazardous situation on the road.

As of 2022, the age of Trevor Reed is 31-years old. Reed who is originally from Texas was 27 when he got arrested. 

His family has been sticking by his side ever since his arrest. His family stated that the Russian authorities are holding Trevor in a small room with a hole in the floor for a toilet.

They also mentioned that the authorities will not allow him to communicate in his own language or receive books & letters.
