Prince William and Duchess Kate echo his parents' visit to Ayers Rock 31 years ago

    Thirty one years after Prince Charles and Princess Diana visited the iconic Ayers Rock in Australia, their son Prince William and his wife the Duchess of Cambridge have made the same trip.And the pair have chosen similar outfits which echo William’s parents, and are cool and suited for the heat of the Northern Territory.

    William and Kate arrived at the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park,

    William was sporting a fawn-hued shirt with the sleeves rolled up and the top button causally undone with a pair of light coloured chinos, a modern update on Charle’s untucked shirt and matching trouser outfit from 1983.Kate wore a patterned Hobbs dress and a casual pair of nude wedges, which she fashioned with a white belt. This was reminiscent of Diana’s pale button-up dress which she wore to Ayers Rock in 1983, which was also accessorised with a white belt and flat nude shoes.

    During their visit to the park, the royal couple were treated to a traditional aboriginal dance called an

    .At the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, the duo learnt about Uluru and neighbouring Kata Tjutu, both of which are sacred sites to the indigenous people, before meeting with Aboriginal people who own the land at Uluru.

    The pair have coming up to the end of their Royal Tour in New Zealand and Australia.

    A hugely successful trip, the pair have only three more days in Australia before they fly home with Prince George to the UK.

    Kate and William were also shown local art before joining the Chief Minister for the Northern Territory Adam Giles and student representatives from local schools for afternoon tea.
